Cully Cullen, aged 37, of Church Stretton, was stopped by police in Hereford Road in the early hours of October 13, 2024, and co-operated with police a court heard.

Cullen pleaded guilty to drink driving with an alcohol level of 60 in his breath when the legal limit is 35 during his appearance at Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Sara Beddow, prosecuting, said Cullen had been seen varying in speed and entering hash markings by officers.

Kate Cooper, defending, said Cullen is currently on Universal Credit but about to start a telecoms business.

“He gave an early guilty plea,” she said. “It was just one of those things and I am sure he regrets it.”

Magistrates handed down the 'lowest possible' driving disqualification of 17 months and fined him £120. He must also pay a victims surcharge of £48 and prosecution costs of £85.

Cullen was told that he can reduce the length of his driving ban by 17 weeks if he completes a drink driving awareness course.
