The biker, who has not yet been named, died after a collision with a car on the A495 Ellesmere Road on Friday.

The crash happened close to the Narrow Boat Inn between Whittington and Ellesmere at around 1pm and saw the busy rural road shut for several hours.

It is believed the blue Citroen C5 involved in the smash had been travelling behind a tractor and a trailer in the opposite direction to the motorcycle when the crash happened.

The man had been riding a red Honda bike, while the Citroen was behind a red Massey Ferguson tractor.

Bystanders performed CPR on the motorcyclist but he was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and passenger from the Citroen did not require hospital treatment..

West Mercia Police is now appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call 101, with extension 5150, to leave a message for PC Mark Hobden quoting incident 339s of 22 June.
