Becki and Dave White have drawn up a 155-mile route around the county in aid of Sue Ryder and the Stroke Association, and will be walking until the end of the week.

They started from Madeley Cricket Club, where Dave is the chairman, on Monday, and have since stopped off at clubs around Telford and Shrewsbury.

The rest of the week will see them travel through Ellsemere to Oswestry, back to Much Wenlock and then through Bridgnorth, Quatt and Worfield.

They had originally planned to walk from Reading FC’s Madjeski Stadium to Madeley Cricket Club, but a family illness prompted a change of plans.

Becki said: “We have been training hard for our charity walk, however due to these circumstances we have had to alter our route slightly.

The pair will visit 29 cricket grounds during their trip

"We are now walking much closer to home, although the challenge is no easier. We’re actually walking ten miles more than our original route."

The challenge, called Round and Round the Wrekin, will also finish at Madeley.

"We are so overwhelmed by everyone’s support and generosity so far," Becki said.

"We would love for people to join us for a couple of miles, or if you can spare us a couple of blister plasters then they definitely wouldn’t be turned down.

“Thank you to those who have sponsored us so that we can raise funds for two fantastic charities. If you have any spare pennies then please use the link below.”

They have chosen the two charities as the family have had personal experience of the help they can provide.

Becki said: “Sue Ryder were fantastic in providing end of life care for my granny whilst she battled cancer bravely in 2014.

"“She was treated with comfort and dignity, and the support we received as a family was incredible. We would like to raise some money to continuing supporting the wonderful work that they do for other families who are in a similar situation to ours.

“Then in June 2017, my Dad suffered a stroke. The Stroke Association provided really useful information about rehabilitation and living with the side effects of a stroke, which made a very confusing and emotional time for our family a little bit easier.

“We would like to raise some money to help support facilities for stroke survivors.”
