West Midlands Ambulance Service was left stunned after they were left a note complaining about their parking – as they attended to a man who was vomiting up blood.

An ambulance crew was left the note by a disgruntled resident saying: "You may be saving lives but don't park your van in a stupid place and block my drive."

The crew was responding to a serious incident, believed to be in Birmingham, where a man was vomiting up blood and had to be rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said: "Sometimes we just don't know what to say. This was the note left on an ambulance today. At the time, the crew were helping a man who was extremely unwell after vomiting blood. They took him on blue lights to hospital where he was in a critical condition. Patients come first."

Just a day later, WMAS say someone banged on the side of an ambulance asking for it to move as they couldn't get their car out. The ambulance crews were treating a patient in cardiac arrest - the most serious case crews can attend.

A spokesman said: "Just heard from one of our staff that two crews were treating a cardiac arrest patient today - the most serious case we can attend - and someone banged on the side of the ambulance asking them to move as they couldn't get their car out! Sorry, patients come first."
