The 'Justice For Jak' Facebook page now has nearly 200,000 followers and the story has been run in newspapers and on websites around the world.

Jak's mother Elaine Henson claims he was pushed into a metal pole on March 23 at his school, St Peter's C Of E Primary School in Bratton.

In a statement from Telford & Wrekin Council's Safeguarding Childrens Board, chairman Andrew Mason said: "We would not normally comment on individual cases but as a result of significant speculative media interest, we are making an exception in this case.

"We take all allegations of bullying extremely seriously.

"With regards to previous reports of bullying at the school, it seems that there have been issues surrounding a small group of boys since the beginning of the year. It is clear that the parents of the children concerned have been involved in discussions with senior staff and various measures have been put in place to try to resolve the situation.

"We are all very mindful that at the centre of this case are two very young children.

"If the parent remains unhappy with the actions of any of the agencies involved, there are official complaints procedures and they have been advised to follow these."

Police and Jak's school have both previously said they would look into the incident.
