Pictures: Woman cut free from crash which closes A483 between Oswestry and Welshpool

A woman has been cut out of her car following a crash on the busy A483 between Oswestry and Welshpool.

The accident, which has closed the A483 between Llynclys and Llanymynech, happened shortly before 9.30am in Pant.

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said: "We were called to a collision involving a Nissan Almera and a white Mercedes van, outside the Co-op shop in Pant.

"A female in the Nissan was trapped but has been rescued by the fire service. A man also sustained injuries but it is not clear which vehicle he was in at the moment."

The woman was treated for neck pain, while the man was treated for minor injuries, both were treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

According to an ambulance service spokesman, their injuries do not appear to be serious.

Four fire crews from Oswestry and Wellington are at the scene, as well as the ambulance service.

The road is currently closed and a diversion has been put in place.
