She may have missed out on becoming Miss Shropshire, but that has not stopped Annabelle from competing in beauty pageants.

And as the 17-year-old is originally from Solihull, she has managed to secure herself a place in the final of the Miss Birmingham competition taking place in March.

"It means so much to me that I was chosen out of about 800 girls to compete the final," she said. "My family are so proud of me, and I'm really excited about it.

"I loved Miss Shropshire so much that I decided to apply to Miss Birmimgham, but I didn't think I would get picked as I don't live there any more. I was so nervous waiting for the phone call but I over the moon when they said I was one of the 40 finalists."

Annabelle, from Alveley, is currently studying in the sixth form at Oldbury Wells School in Bridgnorth but is also a full time career for her father.

"I like doing the pageants because it's something for me, and it's a something that gives me a bit of independence," she said.

"It is also a nice break from my normal day, as it's not every day you compete in a beauty pageant."

Annabelle gets her style inspiration from Dita Von Teese, and says that she dresses in her 1950s style everyday – which she said causes her friends a lot of embarrassment.

The finals will take place on March 15 at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.
