A car caught fire after crashing into a tree in Ludlow.

Firefighters were called to the scene in Angel Bank at about 9.30pm on Saturday.

Three people had managed to escape from the car before it caught light, damaging about five metres of hedge.

An ambulance was called as a precaution but no injuries were reported.

In Donnington, Telford, emergency services were called to an accident on Redhill Way on Saturday at about 10pm. The driver was not trapped and managed to get out of the vehicle. Crews made the vehicle safe.

Meanwhile, a car and a lorry were involved in a crash on a busy road near Oswestry yesterday.

Police were called to Whittington Road at about 12.30pm. Both vehicles were moved off the road to clear the carriageway, which did not need to be closed. Nobody was hurt in the accident
