Paul Lloyd, 24, of Waggoners Fold, Telford, is alleged to have attacked the teenager near to the town's bus station and Central Square.

Mr John Causer, prosecuting, told the jury at Shrewsbury Crown Court there was no issue that the couple engaged in a sexual encounter.

But he added: "What you have to decide is if she consented to what happened, which he says she did, or if she did not consent to what happened, which she says she did not."

He said Lloyd had told police the teenager had asked him for sex but they were disturbed by someone shouting.

She claims he followed her and carried her down an alley, where he raped her before running off.

She added: "I was hitting him, shouting at him 'no'."

The trial continues.
