Car catches fire at Telford retail park

Firefighters were called out to a Telford retail park this morning after following a car fire which saw smoke billowing into the air.

The incident happened close to McDonald's near to the entrance of the Wrekin Retail Park at 10.30am today.

The vehicle was parked on a slip road going into the site, with the driver getting out safely after seeing smoke coming from the vehicle.

One fire crew from Wellington was sent to the scene and had put the blaze out within 15 minutes.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said no one was hurt in the incident, with no other emergency services called to the scene.
