Lorry crash closes A5 in Shrewsbury
[gallery] Part of one of Shropshire's busiest roads was blocked during rush hour after an accident involving two cars and a lorry.
Fire crews were called out to the A5 at the Woodcote to Edgebold island, near Shrewsbury, last night.
Three fire engines from Shrewsbury and one from Wellington were sent to the scene, while police and ambulance also attended.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "It was a road traffic collision involving two saloon cars and one large goods vehicle.
"One person was extricated by fire service personnel and conveyed to hospital by ambulance."
A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said the road was blocked for "some time" after the accident.
She said she believed the person taken to hospital had only suffered minor injuries in the accident just before 4.30pm.
A witness, who did not want to be named, said: "There was already a huge queue of traffic when I saw the emergency workers there so I can only imagine it caused a lot of disruption."
