Shrewsbury marathon course finalised for 2014
The course for Shrewsbury's fledgling marathon and half marathon has been extended to take in more of the town and surrounding area.
Runners will now start the course at Shropshire Agricultural Showground on Berwick Road and the first four miles of the route will be in the countryside, meaning the half marathon distance will be completed in one lap, rather than two.
Almost 3,000 runners took part in this year's event, the first of its kind held in the town for several years.
Dave Downes, director of In The Running, the organisers of the race, said: "Last year's event was a huge success and we are expecting an even bigger turn out in 2014. Over £30,000 was raised for charity."
