Police were called to Sydney Avenue shortly before 7pm last night following reports from a member of the public that a man had gone into the river.

When police arrived the man, believed to be in his 30s, had got out of the water unaided.

He was arrested on suspicion of being in breach of bail conditions and failure to attend magistrates court.
