Honeymoon tops list for Shropshire's new lottery winners

Sue and James Schofield also plan to use the cash from the New Year's Day EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle Draw to fulfil their dream of starting up their own business, running a boarding kennel for small animals.

The couple, of Rhosweil near Weston Rhyn, near Oswestry, discovered they were winners when they returned home from a meal out with friends on New Year's Day.

Mr Schofield, 37, who worked as a delivery driver for an Oswestry company, checked the results on his phone and couldn't believe he had a winning ticket.

"We felt disbelief," he said. "We checked it online and then made a phone call to make sure. I thought there was a chance it could be wrong."

Mrs Schofield, 47, who was a supervisor at cleaning company ISS Facilities Services, said: "We get the ticket every week, we never expected to win. It is unbelievable and I have to pinch myself."

On January 2 the couple quit their jobs.

They now plan to set up their own boarding home for cats and small animals.

Mrs Schofield said she was still overwhelmed at her win.

"Winning the money will change our lives," she said. "It will make our dreams come true. We are going to start our own business and work for ourselves."

The couple, who married in 2007, also hope to spend some of the cash on a romantic getaway.

"We have not been on a honeymoon yet," she said.

Mrs Schofield added: "We are quite grounded. We have a budget of what we want. James would like a new Range Rover and I want an Audi A5."

Sue has two daughters who will also benefit from the win with cars and driving lessons. The couple's grandson, four-year-old Jacob, said he wanted to go to Legoland.

Daughter Pagan, 27, said: "It was very surreal. It was some good news for this time of year."

Gabrielle, 18, , is studying animal management at the Baschurch campus of Walford and North Shropshire College. She hopes to work for the family business.
