Telford quadruplets Evelynn, Rosaline, Gracie-Lou and Amalia-Rose were the centre of attention when they were christened in front of more than 100 family and friends.

The youngsters were born prematurely on December 11 and spent weeks in neo-natal care before going home to Sutton Hill in Telford with parents Charlene Medlicott, 20, and Mark Connaughton, 26.

But their christening on Sunday at St Michael's Church, in Madeley, was a moment of celebration for their family, and was followed with a reception at The Venue, in Sutton Hill.

Proud dad, Mark, said: "It was a brilliant day, everything went really well. The girls did cry a bit, here and there during the service, but it was only because they were hungry."

Vicar, the Rev Rosemary Freeman could be forgiven for being confused as the quads are made up of two sets of identical twins.

They were each dressed in identical traditional christening gowns and shoes, but with their own style of hairbands to set them apart.

The youngsters – Evelynn Lillian Julie, and her twin Rosaline Anita Mae, together with Gracie-Lou Anne and her twin Amalia-Rose Rachael – were christened in memory of Mr Connaughton's late grandfather.

"My grandad made sure every grandchild was christened and we were very close so I wanted to carry on his tradition," he said.
