Letter: I don't like complaining about Telford & Wrekin Council. I do know how difficult it is to run a decent, viable, value-for-money council.

However, I must complain about the absolute scandal of the amphitheatre in the Town Park.

This fantastic amenity was used years ago for concerts, plays etc and is set in beautiful surroundings.

Why has this been allowed to lapse into the state it is now? It should be repaired, cleaned up and used.

You could have bands, comedians, plays, all-day concerts - you name it. It should be used at least 100 times a year.

It is a crying shame the council have allowed this to happen and someone in the leisure department should be taking a very long look at themselves.

They will say, it is all about money and savings . . . blah blah, but one of the functions of a council is to provide amenities for the public

It has a duty to spend money when the expenditure would benefit the town, its people and the general wellbeing of Telford as a whole.

I am going to start a campaign to get this fantastic place repaired and made usable and to get all sorts of entertainment on its great stage.
