Shropshire's Property Rich List 2009 today revealed parts of Much Wenlock as the most expensive address in the region.
The list was compiled by house prices website Zoopla.co.uk. The guide also highlights the most exclusive addresses across England, Scotland and Wales.
The two most expensive areas in rural Shropshire were named as TF13, Much Wenlock, where average house prices were £268,606, and SY6 in Church Stretton where the average price of a home was put at £255,464, according to the study.
Runners-up in the findings included SY7 in Bucknell where prices averaged £237,702, SY5 in Shrewsbury where they stood at £230,204 and WV16 in Bridgnorth where the average cost of a home was £218,882.
Others included TF11 at Shifnal which commanded an average property value of £211,969, SY4 at Shrewsbury with a £208,331 price tag, and SY8 in Ludlow where buyers could expect to pay an average of £207,983 for a property.
The website has also published details of the most expensive streets in the county.
In the West Midland region's most expensive street section the runner-up was the SY12-postcoded Northwood in Ellesmere.
Here the average price of a home stood at £671,787, the website said.
And in third place was Pell Wall, Market Drayton, TF9, where the price of a house was quoted as being £662,198.
Shropshire estate agent Nick Tart said Much Wenlock remained popular, despite the housing slump.
He said: "Much Wenlock is a lovely town. It hasn't escaped price falls that have happened in most places but it is still very popular, particularly its stone cottages.
"New houses don't command the price of traditional homes like this. Much Wenlock also has good schools, good shops and is only 15 minutes from Telford."
