Babies make a festive debut

A host of proud new parents received a special festive gift as 12 Shropshire babies entered the world on Christmas Day.

Two bouncing babies were born at Telford and nine delivered at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, while one was a home birth at Whitchurch.

Abigail Woolhouse, of Pontesbury, became mum to twins, Sky and Emily Thomas.

Her two little girls arrived at 4.39am and 4.41am yesterday, weighing 5lb 9oz and 5lb 5oz.

But the first to make her entrance was the daughter of Victoria Penhale, of Oswestry, who was born at 1.29am weighing 8lb 2oz. At 2.41am, Kassie Simmonds, of Telford, had an 8lb 4oz daughter.

Olivia Paige Smith was born to Emma Higgins, of Market Drayton, weighing 7lb 4oz.

Later Angela Frank, from Shrewsbury, gave birth to 7lb 4oz Lauren. Later DJ Hum-phries, of Shrewsbury, gave birth to Lexie, 7lb 9oz. Then at 3.54pm, the first boy of the day arrived, as Samantha Fletcher, of Newport, gave birth to 7lb 3oz Ruaben. Baby Ryan, weighing 7lb 3oz, was born to Victoria Barrow at home in Whitchurch.

And finally, arriving just in time to be a Christmas Day baby, was the 8lb 7oz son of Maria Machancoses, of Bridgnorth, who gave birth at 11.54pm.

Meanwhile, two babies were born in Telford's Princess Royal Hospital on Christmas Day.

The first was baby Jessica, weighing 6lb 1.5oz. Her proud mother is Gemma Bailey, from Woodside in Telford. The second was 6lb 12oz George, born to Leanne Howells, 34, from Newport.
