Meet the Shropshire pottery artist who enjoys sharing her passion of clay with others
Nina Finch fell in love with clay immediately after enrolling on an evening course in 2019 in the hope of finding a new creative hobby.

She had already tried her hand at a few different art classes but hadn’t found “the one” until she began working with clay.
“It just kind of clicked,” says Nina, who lives near Ludlow. “I really enjoyed making something with my hands and getting creative.”
The arrival of the Covid pandemic brought the course to an early end but that didn’t deter Nina from wanting to learn more.
“I taught myself from YouTube videos and videos that people had shared on Facebook,” she explains.

Nina spent the next few years making mugs and vases while experimenting with various techniques, from throwing on the wheel, hand building to mould making and slip casting.
"A lot of the pots I made when I first started that are terrible I have still kept because they started me on my journey and it’s nice to look back and compare them to what I’m doing now,” she says.
As her skills continued to grow, Nina developed a strong desire to create ceramic pieces that strike a balance between function, beauty and individuality.
