The Handlebards

The Handlebards are cycling actors who carry all the set, props and costume needed to perform Shakespeare plays across the globe.

Both their all-female troupe and our all-male troupe are cycling across the UK bringing our unique brand of Shakespeare to all corners of the country, before touring internationally.

The female troupe will perform The Tempest at Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens tomorrow as part of the tour, that also sees the male group perform Much Ado About Nothing across the UK.

The HandleBards began in 2013 with their production of the Twelfth Night.

In 2014, the group won the Edinburgh Fringe Sustainable Practice Award. They were nominated again in 2015, and in 2016 were nominated for the Stage’s inaugural Sustainability Award.
