Alison Hammond to star in The Rocky Horror Show coming to Birmingham

Birmingham television personality Alison Hammond will return to her hometown when she stars in The Rocky Horror Show.

The 43-year-old star will appear as the narrator in the hit musical, alongside the likes of Blue singer and Hollyoaks actor Duncan James and West End star Stephen Webb as Frank, Strictly Come Dancing Champion Joanne Clifton as Janet, a1’s Ben Adams as Brad and Kristian Lavercombe reprising his role as Riff Raff.

Talking ahead of the performances at The Alexandra Theatre, This Morning presenter Alison said she cannot wait to join the Rocky Horror team in May.

"It’s in my hometown of Birmingham which is obviously the best place," she added.

"So make sure you come along and enjoy the show.”

Alison first rose to prominence when she appeared in the third season of Big Brother.

She has since become a presenter on ITV's This Morning as the showbiz reporter, and has starred in shows such as Loose Women, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, Strictly Come Dancing and more.

Since it first opened in London in June 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show has been performed worldwide for 45 years in more than 30 countries and translated into over 20 languages.

The Rocky Horror Show tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet who meet Dr Frank’n’Furter by chance when their car breaks down outside his house whilst on their way to visit their favourite college professor.

The show is packed full of well known hits, such as Sweet Transvestite, Science Fiction/Double Feature, Dammit Janet, and The Time-Warp.

The Rocky Horror Show comes to Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre from May 13 to 25.
