Boyzlife performed on Friday night at the Big Top that has been erected especially in Telford’s town park for 17 shows of all kinds.

The Big Top is a 1,000 seat performance space set up to help Telford and the Oakengates Theatre celebrate their 50th birthdays.

Boyzlife, a collaboration between two boy band veterans, made up of former Boyzone member Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden, performed in Telford’s big top, as part of a tour across the UK.

The pair went down a treat with the crowds in the giant tent, which will host more events to help Telford celebrate until this Sunday.

Boyzlife were supported on Friday night by Esther Turner, a Midlands-based young singer.

Last night Al Murray brought his stand-up routine as alter ego the Pub Landlord to a capacity crowd.

Almost all of the tickets to his set were sold out days in advance, before he heads to the Edinburgh Festival.

He has been performing stand-up for more than 20 years and has hosted programmes on ITV and Sky.

Off the heels of his Telford show, he will head north to the Edinburgh festival for a three-day run of gigs.

Some of the performers still to come at the Big Top are Black Country comedian Doreen Tipton, 90s favourites East 17 and three original members of S Club 7, now performing as S Club.

Telford will reach its 50th birthday later this year, having been designated as a new town on November 29, 1968. Events have been planned throughout the year to mark the anniversary.
