Every single week we hear of am dram groups raising money for local charities and it’s so heartwarming that there are such kind people out there.

This week’s Am Dram Star of the Week is appearing in a concert to raise money for The Mess Café, which is set up by Gem Café and The Message Trust, who provide adults with learning difficulties opportunities for a fulfilling life, including an introduction to work.

Ben Perry from Wolverhampton started to learn the piano aged eight and then began to sing at 14 while at secondary school. It wasn’t until Ben was 25 that he started performing on stage.

“My nephew was interested in musical theatre and I watched him in shows every year before deciding to have a go myself,” says Ben. “That was just four years ago, but since then I have done four pantomimes and three concerts.”

“Together with Kate-Pingree-Webber, I formed Canon Productions and our latest concert will be held next Friday, starting at 7.30pm at New Invention Victory Club in Willenhall. It is called Musical Mix Up 2,” he adds.

It promises to be a very entertaining evening with songs from Phantom, Les Miserables, Matilda, The Greatest Showman and Book of Mormon to name but a few.

For tickets priced at £10 each, which includes a fish and chip supper, visit www.seaty.co.uk/canonmixup or call 07841 463651.
