It has been ten years since Lee Mead first won the hearts of the nation by winning hit BBC TV series Any Dream Will Do, going on to starring in the West End production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

And to celebrate this anniversary Lee has embarked on a tour around the country, treating fans to a concert containing many songs from his wide and varied career.

During his visit to Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury, Lee combined a mix of pop and musical theatre songs from his latest album with some stories from his past.

Accompanied by an amazing live band, Lee’s rendition of The Rolling Stones’ Paint it Black was very powerful and a real crowd pleaser.

However, the stand out moments of the show came from his musical performances. This included songs from Miss Saigon, Wicked, Les Miserables, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Chess.

Lee ended the first half with the song which first catapulted him into the lime light – Close Every Door from the musical Joseph, which he sang effortlessly.

Coming back after the break, Lee told the audience more stories from his past – his love of musicals was clear and fans were treated to more songs from shows he has performed in.

This was the perfect concert for musical lovers or Lee Mead fans who would like to find out more about his life on the stage and at home.

The live band were faultless – notably an exceptional performance by the violinist.

Lee’s friendly, endearing personality shone through – it felt like he was talking one to one rather than to a nearly sold out crowd.

Lee finished the show with a performance of Any Dream Will Do wearing the iconic multi-coloured coat – bringing the audience to their feet.

Overall the performance was an enthralling evening, with something for all ages.

If you didn’t get the chance to catch the show in Shrewsbury, Lee will travelling around the country finishing in his home town Southend-On-Sea on November 25.
