Thousands of people have been enjoying the art trail, made up of 10 giant ducks, which have been housed in the Ironbridge Gorge for the last few months.

And with the change of scene comes the announcement that more than £8,700 has been collected for charity so far thanks to the trail.

Julie Ward, who organised the trail, said the ducks had settled in well.

“Thousands of people have already seen them,” she said.

“The new ducks have been moved to Southwater for a final month before they go to auction and our duck tale comes to an end.”

“Thousands of people have already seen and enjoyed this fantastic art work and so far a total of £8,700 has been raised for the two local charities.”

Some of the money was collected through a GoFundMe crowdfunding page, with more expected when the ducks get to auction.

They will be sold by auctioneer Nigel Davis later this year, with all the money being split between Severn Hospice and the Jayne Sargent Foundation.

The ducks will be on display until August 17 before going to auction.

Organisers have asked that visitors keep an eye on them, and make sure they are not damaged after a number were vandalised during their time in Ironbridge.

“To enable us to raise the most money we need the ducks to be in great condition,” Julie said.
