The cast of Peter Pan have swashbuckled their way to Oakengates Theatre in Telford and are running through their lines ahead of the first performance on Wednesday.

They have a busy month ahead of them, with families snapping up their tickets at a faster rate than last year’s Sleeping Beauty.

Kellie Thompson, spokeswoman for Oakengates Theatre, said: “Rehearsals are now underway. All the cast are here, they started rehearsing on Wednesday. Ticket sales are going really well. We are up 900 in sales compared to the same time last year, which is very good.”

The cast includes Thomas J Redgrave, of Britain’s Got Talent’s winning boy band Collabro, as Peter Pan, as well as Jonas Cemm as Captain Hook and Steve Boyce as Mrs Smee.

The show, which is staged by Shone Productions, also stars comedy actor Adam Kelly as Mr Smee, singer Charlotte Griffiths as Tiger Lily, Georgina Newton as Tinkerbell and Rebecca Seyhan as Wendy.

The cast, including the young Telford lads, are set to start rehearsals on November 29. High jinks, singing and slapstick comedy will be on offer when the pantomime kicks off later this year.

Sleeping Beauty starred veteran comedian Bernie Clifton and Wink Taylor from CITV’s The Sooty Show when it was performed at Telford last year.

The show, which also starred Craig Cowdroy as Nanny Nora, received rave reviews.

Peter Pan is on from December 6 to 31 at The Place, Oakengates.
