Oxygen, which is based at Telford Shopping Centre’s central square, will hold its grand opening by the end of August.

Bosses said today that they will be creating between 25 and 30 part-time positions across both venues.

The bar, O2, will offer cocktails, live music, comedy nights, specialist events and pre-nightclub warm up and will be open early evening until late.

It will then transform into a second club room, creating a multi-scene venue.

Oxygen, occupying the basement of the venue, will be open from Thursday to Saturday until 5am.

It will host dancers, sax and percussion players and have hostess staff and selective table service areas.

Weekly events are planned including guest DJs and celebrity appearances.

The club will be for anybody over 18, but may hold nights exclusively for older people.

More than 500 people have already followed the club’s Facebook page, bosses said today, with updates on the grand opening set to be announced in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Chinese restaurant Dragon’s Den, which is owned by the same people, has shut ahead of a major refurbishment.

The club is just the latest development to add to the nightlife around Telford Town Centre.

Southwater recently saw the opening of a number of new restaurants, including TGI Fridays, and Cineworld revealed earlier this year that blockbusters like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them had proved hugely popular.

Boards have gone up in Southwater Square while a new 68-room Travelodge hotel is created. As part of that development, there will also be a new public green space provided

The extension to the square has been designed to cater for a range of uses including events and retains the open views and link between Southwater and Telford Town Park.

As well as the hotel, the new development will include space for a new bar or restaurant at ground floor level with views overlooking Southwater lake and the new square.

Earlier this year it was announced that Aldi will be coming to the shopping centre as part of the £15 million redevelopment of the Northern Quarter, formerly the Asda supermarket at Telford Shopping Centre.
