Telford's Leoni hoping to be tops in tournament

A schoolgirl will be playing her cards close to her chest when she takes part in a national tournament.

Leoni Tibbs, 9, will compete in animal Top Trumps in the tournament this weekend at Chester Zoo.

The Ladygrove Primary School pupil is one of 12 from across the country to have beaten thousands of competitors in heats to make it to the finals.

The tournament on Saturday will be played using a Top Trumps Tournament deck made up of creatures from african elephants to tiger sharks.

Accompanying this years trophy prize is the chance to play with, and adopt a meerkat from Chester Zoo.

The winner will also see a unique plaque unveiled in their name at the Meerkat enclosure.

Claire Simon from Winning Moves UK , said: “ We wish Leoni all the very best in the Grand Finals.

"She is already a champion of her school, and to be one of just 12 elite Grand finalists from a starting line-up of very many thousands is amazing.”

Top Trumps first appeared in the 70's and 54 packs have been produced worldwide.

Ms Simon added "We are extremely excited to be teaming up with Chester Zoo for this year’s tournament.

" Just like Top Trumps, Chester Zoo is engaging, fun and educational, making them the perfect partner for our Awesome Animals theme.

"We can’t wait to crown our 2017 Top Trumps Tournament champion and see them lift the trophy.”
