Pippa Hughes is in the running to be named best actress in the Indian equivalent of the Baftas after just two years in the industry.

The 24-year-old grew up in Ludlow where she trained at Insteps Dance Academy before moving to London to attend London Studio Centre.

She left the UK for Mumbai in 2016 and performed as a backing dancer before learning Hindi in order to take on lead television roles.

“Pippa’s success as a dancer gave her further confidence to move into acting too,” said her manager Sophie Elizabeth.

Her break into the Bollywood movie industry as an actress came in 2016 with a small role in the film Shivaay.

She has since taken on leading roles in 21 Sarfarosh, a popular TV series about the Battle of Saragarhi, comedy horror spoof Shaitaan Haveli, and Zindagi Ke Crossroads.

The Indian Television Academy Awards 2018 will be held on November 5 in Mumbai, when Pippa will be up against some of India’s most well known actresses.

Ahead of the ceremony, Pippa is returning to the UK to lead a series of Bollywood workshops at dance schools in the West Midlands.

Sophie added: “We are blown away by Pippa’s tenacity to succeed and she is currently representing England within the Bollywood television Industry right now.

“She will be moving more towards the film industry in early 2019 and we can’t wait to see where her talent and drive takes her.”
