Ludlow Food Festival 2017: Thousands descending on town

Thousands of visitors were descending on Ludlow today for the first day of the town's food festival.

Up to 18,000 people are expected to flock to Ludlow Castle over the weekend for the 23rd annual festival.

More than 160 exhibitors will be showcasing everything from luxury sausage rolls to meringues, cider and flavoured vodka and gin, in the castle grounds.

Among the new activities this year is The Fire Kitchen, hosted by online hit DJ BBQ, who will be bringing some talented friends with him.

With more than 250,000 followers, DJ BBQ is known to millions more through Jamie Oliver's Foodtube which has 2.7 million subscribers.

Homegrown talent will be represented by Marcus Bean, of Brompton Cookery School, near Shrewsbury.

Returning to the show will be Great British Menu star Sue Stinchcombe and former Ludlow chef Shaun Hill.

The festival runs today from 10am- 5pm and is open until 6.30pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday.
