The 126th Burwarton Show will take place on Thursday in land between Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Mary Williams, chairwoman of Burwarton Show, said that membership has gone up this year and advance tickets were selling well.

She said: "The advance ticket sales have been good, we've been selling them through the website and in local businesses.

"The show manager has said the ticket sales have been good on the website and the membership has gone up this year, it's a good response this year."

Mrs Williams added that more than 300 volunteers of all ages would be on hand to help on the day.

She said: "We've got about 300 volunteers. We won The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service last year.

"There's more than 300 people who give up their time to volunteer for the show.

"We've got a couple of young people who we gave grants to last year and now this year they are volunteering. We have people ranging from teenagers to people in their 80s helping out.

"The show wouldn't be able to go on without the volunteers."

The entertainment this year is the Squibb Freestyle Stunt Team, and the Shetland Pony Grand National, a race for riders aged between eight and 13.

The show’s Main Ring entertainment will also feature a parade of vintage tractors, decorated heavy horses, Concours d’elegance and a parade of carriages and a parade of Ludlow foxhounds.

At the end of the day a Young Farmers Club tug of war will take place in the Main Ring.

On the show’s Village Green there will be a line-up of acts.

It will include the Jill Fielding Duo, Joey the Juggler, Clive Chandler Punch and Judy, Magic Russ, Helen Pearson 1940s and 1950s music, and balloon modelling.
