The club will be hosting the Zoom event, featuring appearances from players Scott Golbourne and Josh Daniels, to raise funds for the Movement Centre, in Oswestry.

The event will include a quiz made up of 90 questions, as well as the chance for a question and answer session with the players.

The centre had to close its doors last year due to Covid, and having reopened in their 25th year the charity is looking to raise £156,000 – enough to support 25 children in having physiotherapy to help them gain vital movement.

Businessman Stuart Danks. of D M Recruitment, has pledged to raise £12,000 towards the campaign, and as a Shrewsbury Town sponsor and supporter, he suggested the club could join.

He said: “As one of our charity partners, The Movement Centre have our full support with all their fundraising events.

Preparing for the quiz

“I’m confident that a virtual quiz presented by Shrewsbury Town players will attract lots of attention within the community to help raise vital funds for the charity, so it was a pleasure to connect them.

"A huge thank you to Shrewsbury Town for giving the event their support. What better way to see off the lockdown than with an extra special online quiz? I’m looking forward to taking part.”

Johnny Wilkes, chief executive of The Movement Centre, who is also a lifelong Town fan and long-time season ticket holder, said they were thrilled at the support.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Stuart from D M Recruitment supporting us and are extremely thankful and grateful he has put us in touch with Shrewsbury Town, who have agreed to support us in hosting a virtual quiz.

“Raising awareness is essential to us and this event sends out a message to the parents and relatives of those children who need our treatment.”

The quiz takes place at 7pm, on March 24.

Tickets are available from the eventbrite.co.uk website.
