Concert for Age UK
Shropshire Charity Concerts Choir and Orchestra will be performing J. S. Bach's St John Passion in Shrewsbury Abbey next month, to support Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s work with and for vulnerable older people in the county.
This piece of music is rarely played outside the UK's main cultural centres because of the considerable resources necessary to perform it. However, Shropshire Charity Concerts Choir and Orchestra are no strangers to performing these great choral works in Shrewsbury Abbey.
John Moore, Director of Music at Shrewsbury School, will conduct the performance.
One of the choir's main aims is to support as many local charities as possible through their concerts. Since their Christmas Messiah performances began 30 years ago, they have been able to donate more than £50,000 to a large range of local charities and organisations. The choir will donate the proceeds from this performance to Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, to help provide vital services for local older people.
