The event on Saturday (16) will be at Church Farm, Upton Magna near Shrewsbury, SY4 4TZ from 1pm to 4pm. It is a fundraising event in aid of St Lucia's Church which due to be renovated.

There will be homemade cakes on sale. Entry costs £3 and £2.

St Lucia's parochial church council member Sue Woods says: "Visitors can view the lambing sheds, touch and feed the animals. It's a really good day, it's great for children.

"However, no pregnant mothers or dogs are allowed on health and safety grounds."

Major renovation work is due to start at the village church on April 8 after St Lucia's attracted a lottery grant of £5,000 towards the cost.

The church is closed temporarily for urgent repairs to be carried out and worshippers are meeting in the village hall until the work completed.
