Age still no barrier as 3,000 visit Minsterley Show- with pictures

Minsterley Show is always a big event in the county's calendar and it was no different this weekend.

The rain stayed away and a number of people showing animals and livestock were in attendance, along with streams of stall holders and large crowds.

The event attracted more than 3,000 people again this year, and is still going strong despite being founded way back in 1875.

Stunt bike riders and an array of animal classes were among the main attractions entertaining visitors on Saturday.

Neale Manning, vice chairman of the event, was delighted with another successful year.

He said: "I think it is our 143rd year overall now. I can't say I've been to every one of them but I have been to a lot of them.

Entertain

"It is just great to see so many people here again, as we are the oldest agricultural show in the county and one of the oldest in the country.

"There has been so much here to entertain everyone, from the stunt bike riders to the cattle and horses.

"We have so many stalls here and the crowds have been great, there must have been around 3,000, probably more here over the course of the day.

"The rain stayed away and it was dry, which made for another good event."

With it being one of the largest of its kind in the county it takes a lot of organise.

And Mr Manning paid tribute to the army of volunteers who have mucked in to make the event a success.

He added: "There is a big committee of us and people who do various jobs.

"They are great and do a fantastic job, and without them this show wouldn't take place."
