Sarah Bright is hopeful of smashing the Guinness World Record for the most people to dance the Charleston.

The current record, set by dance troupe Swing Patrol in London in 2015, is 975.

The attempt will take place in Shrewsbury Quarry on September 22 this year.

Sarah, who runs Revel in Dance in Shrewsbury, said: "I know it's a big ask but I honestly think we can do it. I definitely feel positive and I think people will be really keen to get involved. It's just a case of getting the word out there now and getting people signed up."

And you don't have to be a talented dancer to get involved as Sarah will be hosting Charleston sessions over the coming months.

She said: "Over the summer I'm putting on workshops for people to learn the routine. The rules are quite stringent and everyone has to be in unison for it to count as a world record attempt."

Sarah, who specialises in vintage dance, has been teaching the Charleston to the people of Shrewsbury since 2011 and said it is becoming more and more popular.

"I hope we can put the town on the map with a Guinness World Record," she added.

"I just want it to be a really fun event for the people of Shropshire. It's open to men, women and children over the age of 10. I'm really excited about it and I think it's going to be a really fun event."

Sarah is now looking for businesses to sponsor the event.
