Jack Whitehall has said football manager Jose Mourinho “absolutely mugged him off” with a prank during the filming of his new series.

Titled Jack Whitehall: Training Days, the series sees the comedian meeting some of the football world’s biggest stars and “getting them out of their comfort zones and seeing them having some sort of fun”.

Whitehall told Press Association: “Mourinho absolutely stitched me up, because he made me think I had ruined the interview. He’s a very good actor.

“I made a reference that he needed to start using Just For Men because he’s ageing so rapidly and he stormed out the car.

“I was apologising profusely, the director was going after him and then I found out they were all in on it and trying to scare me. But I completely fell for it and Mourinho absolutely mugged me off.”

The series will air on Whitehall’s YouTube channel, and will feature names including English footballer Dele Alli, Germany’s Thomas Muller, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Chelsea player Cesc Fabregas.

A trailer for the series shows Whitehall cheekily slapping Bale on the derriere, mid-golf swing and also teases the moment Mourinho “storms off” during filming.

Other stunts will see Bale pretending to be a waxwork and Whitehall will visit a haunted house with Alli.

The series has been produced by Fulwell 73, whose credits include James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, One Direction’s This Is Us and BBC1’s When Corden Met Barlow.

Corden is also listed as one of the executive producers on the series.
