“That, along with exceptional teamwork and the overwhelming love for George from the public has made everything come together. We are all so incredibly proud to have the Number One album in the UK.”

The album’s reissue is paired with Michael’s MTV Unplugged session from 1996 and contains the remastered original and bonus tracks.

“His genius will be missed. And I’m equally grateful to David Austin, for convincing me to finish after George had passed.

“I was in a funk for months, and one day David said to me rather matter-of-factly, ‘Yog would love it. That’s why he called you in the first place’.”

One Direction’s Niall Horan was at third place in the albums chart with his debut solo record, Flicker, while rap duo Krept & Konan scored two top tens with the dual release of mixtapes 7 Days at number six and 7 Nights at nine.

In the singles charts, US singer and rapper Post Malone celebrated a fourth week at the summit with Rockstar once again ahead of Camila Cabello’s Havana.
