Lana Del Rey and Linkin Park dominate album charts

Lana Del Rey’s new album has debuted at number one this week, while two Linkin Park records have re-entered the top five following the death of the band’s Chester Bennington.

Del Rey’s Lust For Life overtook mid-week leaders Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott to land the singer her third number one album, according to the Official Charts Company.

The US singer-songwriter’s 2012 album Born to Die and 2014 album Ultraviolence both peaked at the top of the charts.

Linkin Park’s debut album Hybrid Theory, released in 2000, has rocketed back up the charts into fourth place.

The US rock group’s latest record One More Light, released less than three months ago, is in fifth place.

Seven of the band’s other albums are currently in this week’s top 100, with five of those inside the top 40, including 2003’s Meteora at number seven, and 2007’s Minutes to Midnight in at number 15.

On the Official Singles Chart, Linkin Park’s 2003 single Numb is at number 20, and their recent track Heavy featuring Kiiara – which reached number 53 earlier this year – has reached a new high of 43.

Fans flocked to listen to Linkin Park’s hits in the week following Bennington’s death at the age of 41.

The musician was found dead at his home in a suspected suicide.

Meanwhile, previous chart-topping single Despacito, by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber, has returned to the top of the charts this week.

Despacito has now been at the chart summit for 10 non-consecutive weeks and has now become one of only five tracks to have been at number one on three different occasions.

It also recently became the most-streamed song in the world at well over four billion streams.

Bieber’s What Do You Mean in 2015, and Pharrell Williams’ Happy in 2014, are among the other songs that have achieved the accolade.

One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is this week’s highest new entry with his track Back To You, with Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, entering the charts at number 13.
