The afternoon concert was to have been held at the Marches School Theatre in the town on September 2.

The company has said only that the cancellation had by due to circumstances outside of its control.

A spokesperson for the company, Phil Box, said, "It is with deep regret we have been forced to cancel this show. Anyone who has purchased tickets will receive a full and immediate refund, if you purchased tickets on line, you should have already received a full refund directly back to the payment method you used to purchase your tickets. People who have purchased their tickets in person, can receive a refund by taking their tickets back to Rowanthorn.

"We are extremely disappointed to have had to cancel this show and apologise whole heartedly for the inconvenience caused to those who have already purchased tickets. Everyone involved in the show has put so much hard work into it and it was shaping up to be something special, but sadly events have led to us having to cancel. We are currently discussing with the Royal British Legion how we can get involved with a future event to try and help them raise funds and awareness for this invaluable charity."

No other shows are affected by the cancellation and 'The Wizard of Oz - A Pantomime', rehearsals start next week, ready for performances in December.
