The Bronington charity tractor run has been held for almost three decades, and shows no sign of running out of steam.

This year's evening will start from Mill Lane Tractors in Bronington at about 10.15am.

Tractor enthusiasts will follow a route along the picturesque minor roads in the area before meeting at the popular Hanmer Arms pub for lunch at 2pm onwards. The cost is £15 to include lunch.

There is still time to sign up the for the event by contacting one of the organisers, Mr Mike Williams on 01948 780468.

The annual event is organised by Mike and Peter Williams and Mark Watson to raise money for the Bronington Friendship Club.

Mr Williams said the event had been running in various formats since the 1990s.

He said they tried doing the run on New Year’s Day but found it was too cold so moved it to August.

“We started in the 1990s when we had about eight tractors.

“We used to run it on New Year’s Day but it was either bitterly cold or raining.

“The weather was terrible so we decided to do it in the summer.

“We tend to vary the route."

He said the money went to the Friendship Club to help subsidise bus trips, Christmas lunches and other social events for senior citizens throughout the year.
