Up to 40 tractors will take to the roads of Bronington, near Whitchurch, in North Shropshire, to raise money for the village’s Friendship Club.

The event, on Sunday, will kick off at about 9am from Mill Lane Tractors, in Mill Road, as the vehicles travel through the village before ending at the Raven Hotel in Prees Heath for lunch.

Mike Williams, member of the Bronington Friendship Club committee, said they hope to offer people a fun day out. He said: “It has been going since the early nineties. The event is weather-dependent but hopefully we will get a good turnout.

“On a nice day we can have about 40 tractors.

“We try and do something different every year and we end up raising about £400 to £500.”

The tractor run will be raising money for Bronington Friendship Club, which offers elderly residents bus trips, Christmas lunches and other social events throughout the year. Last year dozens of up to 40 tractors took to the roads to take part in the event and people around the village came out to watch the procession.

Boost

Previously organisers said they tried doing the run on New Year’s Day but found it was too cold so moved it to August to help boost attendance.

They have also raised money for the hospitals in Wrexham and Shrewsbury with events in the past.
