CeCe Sammy's The Power of Muzik to support The Vamps at Birmingham show

Known for her mentoring work on music television shows X Factor, Pop Idol, and All Together Now, CeCe's Power of Muzik initiative was set up to inspire young people to find their voice through music.

Their unusual approach on mainstream touring sees them take the time surrounding their shows to promote anti-bullying and inspire confidence, and group members have been sharing their experiences and performing in schools around the UK to spread their message to students.

This year, CeCe published her debut book ‘If You Can Speak You Can Sing’, an educational guide using music therapy techniques to help teenagers overcome personal issues, which is handed out to schools upon visits.

The book features CeCe’s story on her recovery following a brain aneurysm, and also stories from some group members who have suffered from mental health issues.

Rising music star Asher Knight, who fronts the group, experienced physical and emotional bullying first hand. Asher is joined on stage by London-based Luena Martinez, who battled confidence issues to continue her dream to work in music and performed on the X Factor in 2016.

Other group members include Michael Rice, winner of the BBC’s latest singing contest All Together Now, and Denis Coleman, aged just 15, an American singer and winner of the Open Mic UK ‘Songwriter of the Year’ competition.

The tour also aims to give more young people the chance to come on-board and inspire them through invites to vocal coaching lessons with the group.

The group can be seen at Birmingham Arena performing alongside The Vamps on May 3.
