Steve Earle and The Dukes to play Birmingham

Steve Earle will play a gig in Birmingham next month.

The American rock, country and folk icon is coming to the second city as part of a tour with his band The Dukes.

The Virginia-born Copperhead Road idol, who grew up in Texas, began his career in the music industry in 1974 when he moved to Nashville at the age of 19.

He later became staff songwriter at the publishing company Sunbury Dunbar, before moving back to Texas and forming The Dukes.

Steve Earle and The Dukes will play the O2 Institute on Saturday, July 28.

They will be supported by alternative country husband and wife duo The Mastersons.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday at 9am.
