J Hus, O2 Academy, Birmingham - review and pictures

Following a sold-out Birmingham show earlier this year, J Hus once again proved exactly why he is soaring to the top of the UK music scene last night as the star performed to a sold-out O2 Academy in an exuberant fashion.

The East Londoner tore open the venue with a pounding version of Common Sense to kick off the show. And, with more than two million views on YouTube and his debut album sitting pretty with gold status, you better believe everyone in attendance knew the words line for line.

With the crowd in the palm of his hands, J Hus began to work through his instantly classical discography, treating his fans to energy field versions of their favourite tracks, such as Common Sense, Spirit, Did You See and Fisherman.

With his confidence clearly growing day in and day out, the presence felt from the young artist filled the venue, seeping through the crowd like an infectious vibe that overtook the evening.

Working the crowd with his carefully selected track list, J Hus continued to bring an array of emotions throughout his performance, calming the mood at times with softer renditions of tracks like Bouf Daddy and Plottin' - crowd favourites that always get the room moving wherever he performs.

Having toured all over the UK in the past year you could forgive the headline act for a little sloppiness, or tired vocals, but in his ever-enthusiastic fashion J Hus performed like a true champion, never dipping in his mood or efforts from the drop of the first beat, to the very last wheel-up.

With another stellar performance from an artist who continues to shine at every opportunity, J Hus demonstrated exactly why he continues to sell out shows, and why he has built such a loyal fan following in what seems like an extremely short period of time. J Hus has certainly put in the work to achieve success, Plottin since day one. The young success story is on track to topple the UK scene.

If you get the chance to see him perform, you know the decision is Common Sense. With the Spirit of a veteran, the Bouf Daddy will put on show like you’ve never seen before.

Make the right choice, Lean and Bop down to his next gig and see the Fisherman live.
