Dame Cleo Laine to mark 90th birthday with Birmingham spectacular

Jazz icon Dam Cleo Laine will celebrate her 90th birthday with a grand spectacular in Birmingham next month.

The singer and actress, alongside her late husband John Dankworth, made a unique contribution to British jazz, encouraging young talents to get involved.

Cleo is also renowned for her scat singing and vocal range.

Special guests at the show will be Cleo and John's daughter Jacqui Dankworth and son Alec Dankworth. Artists Clare Teal, Kandace Springs and Charlie Woods will also perform.

Seventy musicians from the BBC Concert Orchestra and the BBC Big Band, conducted by Guy Teal, will also play the show.

The concert will be presented by BBC Radio 2's Leo Green.

The gig will take place on Wednesday, November 29.
