Star names have been added to the line-up for a music festival expected to attract about 10,000 fans to Shrewsbury in September.

Shrewsbury Fields Forever will welcome big names including The Wombats, members of Ocean Colour Scene and Ms Dynamite.

More names have been added to the line-up, including Danny Byrd, DJ Hazard, Mampi Swift, Anne Savage, Bishop's Castle-based Fight The Bear and the winner of Shropshire's next Big Thing, Newport/ Wellington indie quartet Arcade Parade.

There will also be sets from national UK live and unsigned champions Coco and The Butterfields.

A comedy festival is also planned for the event, called The Sunday Jestival, and it will feature TV comedians Andrew Maxwell, Lucy Porter and Wendy Wason.

It will also welcome Joel Dommett and Eric Lampaert, with an additional headline act to be announced soon.

Event spokeswoman Catherine Roche said Sunday musical acts would include Aziz, the former guitarist with The Stone Roses and Ian Brown, and upcoming singer-songwriter, 15-year-old Lily Juniper, from London, who is studying at the Brit School.

Ibiza star Sonny Wharton, Karlos Cheadle, Terra and Mr Jay will also be among the acts entertaining around 10,000 local fans.

And bands from across Shropshire will feature prominently on a regional unsigned band stage.

Today Dene Edwards, festival director, said: "I hope as many people as possible join us at the festival – as it's rare to get such a great line-up together in one place, for one event, for such a great price."

The event will take place at the Shropshire Showground from September 14 to 16 and tickets are available at www.shrewsburyfieldsforever.com
