The railway was holding its Winter Warmer gala this weekend with both steam and diesel trains taking passengers from Llangollen to Carrog.

The weekend follows the success of the steam railway’s Santa Specials and last week’s Mince Pie Specials.

Visitors enjoyed the Welsh countryside at its bes with mince pies and a festive drink served up on the platform.

Real fires were be lit in station waiting rooms en-route including the picturesque Berwyn Station on the banks of the River Dee. George Jones from the railway said: “The Llangollen Railway’s Winter Warmer gala always proves the perfect way to unwind after Christmas

“The two day event features an intensive timetable, authentic cameos and a real ale bar, providing lots of variety and interest for everyone.

He said many passengers took the opportunity to do some of the beautiful walks along the railway. The Railway has started a major engineering project to build a new station closer to the centre of Corwen to help the town’s economy.
