Ow Ya Bin Sands - Dudley Zoo - Opens from May 26

Ow Ya Bin Sands

Ow Bin Ya Sands is set to transform the attraction's Sensory Garden into a beach play area, just in time for the May half-term holiday.

A total of 80 tonnes of sand is being piled into a large wooden frame, measuring almost 50ft by 30ft, so youngsters can make play and make sandcastles when taking a break from seeing the animals.

Morgan and West: More Magic For Kids - Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury - May 26

Morgan and West

Time-travelling musicians Morgan and West return to the stage with magic-filled show at this event.

Jurassic Seas - SeaLife Centre, Birmingham - May 26 till June 3

Jurassic Seas at the National SeaLife Centre

Journey back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the land and fearsome creatures lurked in the depths of the sea, with the SeaLife Centre's Jurassic trail and fossil dig.

Become a dinosaur detective with a series of challenges and activities and get up close with prehistoric dino relatives sharks such as sharks and turtles.

Great British Food Festival - Weston Park, Weston-under-Lizard - May 26-28

Great British Food Festival

Entertain all the family at this festival with more than 70 stalls, food challenges, competitions, live music, children's entertainment and food demonstrations.

Gates open at 10am.

Tickets, which include entry to the park, gardens and food festival, are £9 for adults, £8 for over 65s, £5 for children aged between 5 and 16, and free for under 5s.

Made in the Black Country - Black Country Living Museum, Dudley - May 26 till June 3

Made in the Black Country

Discover how the Black Country folk's worldwide reputation for making things such as cars, anchors, locks and door knockers put the region on the map.

The museum's Where In The World? trail shows just how far Black Country-made goods went - from the West Indies to New Zealand. It also lets visitors follow in the footsteps of car manufacturers from the area and make their own 'peg' car.

Big Fish Little Fish - Oakengates Theatre, Telford - May 27

The Big Fish Little Fish crew is bringing its award-winning, critically-acclaimed family rave to Oakengates Theatre this half term to celebrate the town’s 50th Birthday.

The event's musical multi-sensory dancefloor, complete with visuals, a glitter cannon, bubbles, giant bouncy balloons and more, is aimed at families with little ones aged up to eight years old.

There will also be a craft making area, with a giant colouring mural and a Playdough table, plus a 'baby safe space' with soft mats and a ball pool.

A licensed bar will also be at the event for the adults.

Fancy dress - of a 'happy birthday' theme - is optional, but encouraged.

Tickets cost £10 for adults, £8 for children and entry is free for babies up to the age of one.

Star Wars Day - Museum of Cannock Chase - May 29

Feel the force at a Star Wars-themed event in Cannock this half term - complete with arts and crafts, an outdoor trail, a quiz, and the opportunity to make your very own mini glowing light sabre.

Tickets cost £4.50 which includes a timed art slot for 45 minutes. The other activities can be completed between 11am and 3.30pm. Organisers say booking is essential.

Stomp - Birmingham Hippodrome - May 29 till June 2

Energy-filled smash hit Stomp takes familiar objects like newspapers, bins, plastic bags and even the kitchen sink and uses them to create a universal language of rhythm and movement.

Stomp combines dance, comedy and music.

Grease - Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury - May 30 till June 2

Grease

Am dram group Get Your Wigle On presents Summer Lovin' favourite Grease this half term.

The high school musical features unforgettable songs from the hit movie including You're The One That I Want, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, There Are Worse Things I Could Do, Greased Lightnin' and many more.

Evening and matinee shows are taking place.

Young Archaeologists' and Curators' Club - Black Country Living Museum, Dudley - May 30

Young Archaeologists' and Curators' Club

Kids interested in dig deeper into their heritage are invited to take part in in a range of themed activities, including research, object handling, living history interpretation and collections display.

The clubs meet from 12.30 till 3pm.

Tickets cost £2 per child and £1.50 for siblings.

Attendance to this activity does not include entry to the open air museum.

Enchanted Forest - Museum of Cannock Chase - May 31

Enchanted forest-themed activities will take place at this beauty spot-based museum this half term.

Activities include a timed art slot, an indoor quiz, an outdoor treasure hunt and the chance to make rock creatures or smile stones.

Entry costs £4.50 per child.

Those attending may choose a timed art slot and the other activities can be completed betweeen 11am and 3.30pm.

Activity packs should be collected from the craft workshop.

Booking is essential, say organisers.

The museum will close at 5pm, with last admission at 4.30pm.

Dracula Spectacular - Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury - June 2

Dracula Spectacular

In this theatre production for the young, the immaculate Miss Nadia and her three pupils are swung into riotous Transylvanian happenings with the irrepressible count and his gruesome acolytes.

Shows take place at 2pm and 7pm.

Film and Comic Con Birmingham Collectormania 25 - NEC, Birmingham - June 2 and 3

Danny Glover

Huge names including Danny Glover, Christopher Lambert, Mads Mikkelsen, Adrian Edmondson, Robert Englund, Colin Maker and sports stars such as Phil Taylor, Kevin Pietersen, Frank Bruno and Michael Owen will all be appearing at this Birmingham event.

The two-day show at The NEC will run from 9am till 6pm on the Saturday and Sunday.

Zones at the show will include a Cosplay Zone, Comics Zone and Video Gaming Zone.
