From world-renowned music icons, to top-notch comedians and spectacular theatre shows, there are loads of great shows to look forward to in January taking place across the Midlands and Shropshire.

January 2 - Black Country Communion - Civic Hall, Wolverhampton

Black Country Communion

Fronted by Cannock’s Glenn Hughes, this hard rock supergroup also comprises guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham) and keyboardist Derek Sherinian, who has worked with the likes of Alice Cooper and Billy Idol.

The Wolverhampton city centre show is in support of the band’s latest album BCC IV.

News of the group getting back together came back in October 2016, after Joe contacted the other members to see if they would be up for going back into the studio to write and record a fourth album.

The global smash hit Blue Man Group comes to Birmingham for a UK-exclusive limited run of shows between 28 December 2017 - 6 January 2018.

Blue Man Group mixes art, music, comedy and state-of-the-art technology to create a one of a kind stage show.

January 7 - Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet performs Swan Lake - Symphony Hall, Birmingham

Swan Lake

Tchaikovsky masterpiece Swan Lake will be performed at the Symphony Hall this winter.

It tells the tale of Prince Siegfried and his true love Odette who, tricked by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile, would rather die together than live apart.

Under the direction of Marina Medvetskaya, Saint Petersburg Classic Ballet has won plaudits across Russia, Scandinavia, the United States and now, the UK.

Show starts at 5pm.

January 12 - The Wizard of Oz, Oakengates Theatre Telford

The Wizard of Oz Rehearsal Video

Join the "irresistibly anarchic" Oddsocks Productions for a rendition of The Wizard of Oz as you've never seen it before.

Follow Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man as they travel through the weird and wonderful land of Oz, encountering Wet Witches, Flying Monkeys, Poisonous Poppies and a multitude of Munchkins along the way. What could possibly go wrong?

Tickets cost £14 for adults and £13 for concessions.

January 14 - Paramore - Genting Arena, Birmingham

Paramore: Misery Business [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Tennessee rockers Paramore return to the UK on highly-anticipated tour to mark the release of the band’s latest album After Laughter.

Made up of singer Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York and drummer Zac Farro, Paramore is best known for songs such as Misery Business, That’s What You Get, Crushcrushcrush, Ignorance and Still Into You.

January 19-21 - Strictly Come Dancing: The Live Tour - Arena Birmingham

See Strictly stars live in Birmingham on their upcoming tour coming to the city centre.

Those performing are Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Skorjanec, Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez, Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton, Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova, Joe McFadden and Katya Jones, Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice, and Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse.

They will be joining the tour judging panel of Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell and to round off the sparkling line-up.

The show will be hosted by reigning Strictly champion Ore Oduba.

January 19 - The Wicked Wizard Of Fizzog - Oakengates Theatre, Telford

The Wicked Wizard of Fizzog

Black Country comedy troupe The Fizzogs will perform a parody of The Wizard Of Oz and Wicked in this show.

The show, taking place at the Auditorium, starts at 7.30pm.

January 20 - 36 Crazyfists, O2 Academy 2, Birmingham

36 Crazyfists

Oregon-based heavy metallers 36 Crazyfists will entertain rock fans with a hit-filled set in the O2 Academy’s second room this January.

Expect fan favourites such as Slit Wrist Theory, Bloodwork and At The End Of August.

Support on the night will come from All Hail The Yeti.

Doors open at 6pm, with a 10pm curfew.

January 23 - Joe Brown - Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury

Joe Brown

For the first time ever, Joe Brown will bring his Just Joe tour to Shrewsbury. The show will see the English rock ‘n’ roll singer and guitarist talk about his early days, growing up in a pub in London's East End, discovering Skiffle, becoming a Rock 'n' Roll pioneer and touring with the likes of Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury and Gene Vincent before headlining shows with The Beatles as an opening act.

The set will also feature music, alongside US singer-songwriter Henry Gross.

Show starts at 7.30pm.

January 23 - 27 - Hedda Gabler, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre

National Theatre's HEDDA GABLER Trailer

This critically acclaimed adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's thrilling masterpiece comes to the Wolverhampton Grand following a sell-out run at the National Theatre. From the producers of War Horse, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Jane Eyre, the modern production features Lizzy Watts as the manipulative Hedda, one of the most famous female dramatic roles ever, previously played by British superstars Rosamund Pike and Ruth Wilson.

January 27 - Anton and Erin - Symphony Hall, Birmingham

Anton and Erin

Anton du Beke and Erin Boag bring a new show to Birmingham this January, complete with new choreography, sparkling costumes and a show band performing timeless music.

The pair will be joined by the full 25-piece London Concert Orchestra, six ‘world class’ ensemble dancers, conductor Richard Balcombe and vocalist Lance Ellington.

January 27 - Ed Byrne: Spoiler Alert - Birmingham Town Hall

Comedian Ed Byrne brings his stand-up tour Spoiler Alert to Birmingham.

January 27 - Sounds Of Wales - Theatre Severn, Shrewsbury

This show will see The South Wales Male Choir perform alongside highly-acclaimed tenor Rhodri Prys Jones.

The performance will also feature four soloists from Shrewsbury School: Phoebe Morris, Ben Lloyd, Sophia Price, Jessie Inglis-Jones.

Funds raised as a result of the event will go towards The Shrewsbury Samaritans.

Show starts at 7.30pm.

January 31 - Lady Gaga - Arena Birmingham

Lady Gaga - Judas

This rescheduled date comes after pop icon Lady Gaga was forced to delay her European shows due to chronic pain condition fibromyalgia. The ailment formed part of documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two.

Fans can expect to hear hits aplenty, including Bad Romance, Poker Face, Alejandro, Born This Way, Applause, Paparazzi, Judas, The Edge Of Glory, Just Dance, Marry The Night, and many more.

January 31 - Feb 3 - Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Birmingham Hippodrome
